Anne Ronjat

the artist

Anne is a full time ceramicist living in Melbourne. She was born in France where she received a very traditional training on the potter’s wheel as a thrower of functional ware through an intensive 3 year apprenticeship with renowned French ceramicists.

In 1994, Anne migrated to Australia and established her own range of finely hand thrown tableware which have been retailing throughout Australia and published in various magazines. Her sculptural work began in 2000 and soon after she was invited to participate in the Becton Sculpture Bienniale. Her work then focused on figurative subjects with a minimalist style utilizing mono glazes.

Recently she has been influenced by her travels to South East Asia where she studied metalsmithing and stone cutting and also by her exploration of Russian orthodox iconography. This has initiated a journey combining ceramic with these new techniques and mediums.

Using the creative process as a meditation, Anne aims toward an aesthetic in her work that elevates the viewer to a sense of tranquility, beauty and expansiveness.
